PrideFest is back for the first time since 2019.
The 2022 festival marks the 25th PrideFest held in June celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ community.
The event moved to Henry Maier Park in 1996. This year's festival will be a three-day event.
"I noticed a little bit at the gate a little bit more security but based on just having to go through metal detectors and being searched and having a bunch of different groups here today trying to advocate to end gun violence things like that, that felt good," said Will Manley, attendee.
There are metal detectors to get into the festival grounds. Only small bags are allowed and police are inside and outside the gates.
The festival grounds also include new stages, food vendor buildings, an expanded health and wellness area and children's and family programming.
