As the fourth most beloved food in America (at least according to Reader's Digest), there seems to be no limit to what people will do for pizza. From holding employees hostage over a long wait time, to spending $275 to ensure the perfect combination of toppings, the marriage of cheese and bread seems to bring out the worst in people.
It turns out dogs will also go to extraordinary lengths for a slice, with one dachshund's desperation leaving TikTok users in hysterics.
In a clip posted by user @georgiegirl1980 on August 28, a dog's very long tongue can be seen poking through the hole in a pizza box.
Captioned "When you have to use the pizza box lid to keep the dog away from your pizza but she's just too greedy," the video has received over 300,000 likes and more than 12,000 shares in just three days.

According to the American Kennel Club, some canines are "counter-surfers" and will steal your food the moment your back is turned. If your dog manages to grab your snacks, this habit can become ingrained, even after a telling-off.
Dog trainer Kathy Santo, who writes the AKC's Family Dog column, said there are ways to curb your hungry hound's behavior. She recommends keeping your pup out of the kitchen with a door or baby gate and training them to "leave it" with treats. Still, the most important thing you can do as an owner is to ensure there are no crumbs or food left on the countertop (or anywhere else your pet can reach).
"There are some dogs who, no matter how well trained they are, will have a momentary lapse in judgment if you leave the room with a temptation on the counter," she told the AKC.
TikTok users couldn't get enough of the greedy pup's determination to munch, with chelsey3598 commenting: "Sharing is caring."
"The dedication tho," wrote Nikki.
"The tongue took me out," said holly pocket.
"Best waste disposal ever," joked Clairabella.
Other dog owners found the situation highly relatable, with user3323929479556 writing: "Why does this scene look so familiar?"
"This is [something] Ronnie would do," agreed alfiecausierr.
"Wow- can't believe this has just popped up," said user8532679171192. "Mine has barely moved from the kitchen side all evening hoping one of us will cave and give her some."
While Lara commented: "How did I know this would be a dachshund."
