A Home Depot helped a family after racial slurs were written on their back fence in Niagara, New York, which is approximately 20 minutes away from the mass shooting that took place in Buffalo.
According to WIVB, Johnny Parks saw “KILL ALL (racial expletive)” written on his fence. Parks contacted police and filed a report. After his daughter posted a photo on social media, the story went viral and the Niagara Falls Home Depot replaced the panels of the fence that were vandalized and even paid for a security camera to be installed.
The father of four and grandfather told the Niagara Gazette, “Who would do something like this? I’ve never seen nothing like this, nothing like this at all.”
However, he still has faith in his neighborhood, "It makes me want to get more involved. One bad apple does not spoil the whole community. It doesn't make the whole neighborhood bad."

Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement, “Racist messages & slurs were found in the Bronx & Niagara today. @nyspolice is on alert in the wake of the Buffalo shooting & is investigating both cases.”
