The Kia Sorento saw a major redo in 2021, adding more space in this smaller mid-size crossover.
It picks up extra space in the cabin that really opens that third row of seats for adults for shorter trips. The second row also gains space, allowing for more leg room than the last Sorento and other smaller three-row crossovers. If you want a more luxury, then choose the SX trim level with heated and ventilated leather seats, second-row captain’s chairs, and larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with Bose premium sound.
The Sorento X-Line is a new addition to the line that adds some tough and rugged style to this crossover. Last year you could only get this X-Line on the top trim level versions, but for 2022 you can have the X-Line look on other trim levels. The X-Line styling adds a unique front and rear bumper that gives this crossover a more rugged look.
Some lower body cladding also adds to the off-road ready look as well as one-inch body lift. The X-line uses Matte trim color pieces that seem to blend nicely with Aruba green paint color.
I have driven several of the other smaller three-row crossovers on the market and the performance leaves much to desire. However, the Kia Sorento X-Line has no problem moving the fun meter with a 2.5L turbo-charged engine with 281hp.
I filled the seats and it kept up with traffic. The eight-speed dual clutch automatic provides fast shifting when you want to go. Nevertheless, it acts a bit strange in some very low speeds situations; it almost acts like slipping a clutch on a manual transmission at times. The extra ground clearance is helpful in some light off-roading or snowy situations without causing any downfalls for the normal driving situation.
MPG: 21 MPG City; and 28 MPG Highway. I managed 25.7 in 236 miles of mixed driving.

Things to know: The Kia Sorento has a new look and more space making this three-row crossover more user friendly for families while still remaining small enough to easily drive and fit into smaller spaces.
