Breaking news, views, comment and analysis concerning Bristol City and their Championship rivals
Hello and welcome to Friday's live blog with Bristol City's final pre-season friendly over the summer just a day away which means - and, the time has really flown by - the 2022/23 campaign is but a week away.
The Robins travel down to Dorset to take on now-Premier League Bournemouth in what should be a firm test for Nigel Pearson's side and offer more than a few hints as to how they'll line up against Hull City next Saturday.
In the meantime, City have secured one of their brightest academy talents to a new contract, with Tommy Conway last night signing a new three-year deal.
Pearson also successfully achieved one of his summer transfer goals with Tyreeq Bakinson departing for League One promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday.
We'll be bringing you all the Robins-related news throughout the day and anything else of interest from elsewhere in the Championship, so keep an eye on below for updates

In the meantime, have a pleasant evening and good night!
It's a great move for the versatile defender, who can play full-back, wing-back and on the fringes of a back three, and a great opportunity making the step up into League One.

It means as much or as little as you want it to, but does serve as a nice little reference point for when the season is in full swing and those teams who have "upset the odds" can be established.
But here are the latest odds for Championship promotion and relegation in 2022/23 and they don't make for great reading from a City perspective.

The City defender has featured at left wing-back during pre-season and now has a great chance to impress further in League One at Cheltenham Town.
The Robins will be sporting their away kit for the second time this pre-season having worn it in last Saturday's 1-0 win over Plymouth.

We've left out Cam Pring because although he's due to have returned to training this week, it's unclear if he'll be ready to play. Tomas Kalas and Antoine Semenyo remain out.
Lou Orns (@louorns), is well worth a follow on Twitter given his insights into various Championship players and teams. He's put together a pretty extensive season preview which also includes him predicting how the table will finish from 1-24. Safe to say that Robins fans might be a little surprised as to where they're positioned.

The Black Cats have an allocation of 3,338 which will almost certainly sell out.
Andy King is a bit of a spiritual leader at City, even more so now he holds a player/coach role. As a result he's a good man to speak to in terms of internal dressing room dynamics and the veteran very much believes the Robins are in a much better place than they were 12 months ago.

The City midfielder turns 31 today!
It looks like Marcus Tavernier is on the brink of signing for Bournemouth with the Premier League club in "advanced talks" for the Middlesbrough midfielder.
A fee of around £12m has previously been discussed which, when added to the £12.5m for Djed Spence, gives Boro quite a bit of spending power in the division.
That's relevant to City because earlier this week it was reported they had made an enquiry for Antoine Semenyo.
We'd be hugely surprised if anything came of it, for a number of reasons - a) he'll be very expensive; b) City are very reluctant to sell to a Championship rival; c) he's injured - but you wonder with that extra money if Boro might feel a little more confident to talk more extensively.

The midfielder is now a Sheffield Wednesday player having left BS3 for an undisclosed fee in what has been a messy old time for the 23-year-old once he fell out of favour with Nigel Pearson. His departure has also allowed everyone at City to breathe a sigh of relief as it's one less thing to worry about in this window.
No doubt he'll be asked some more probing questions later on, outside of the official club channels, but given Pearson's status as an Owls legend, he's kept it all very polite in his first interview.
Richard Forrester spoke at length with the former Bristol City striker following his exit this summer as he talks about Nigel Pearson's criticism of his fitness levels, not being given a fair chance and rebuilding his career in Ireland.

This is a lovely video as Conway looks back on his rise through the Robins ranks.
The 19-year-old has been with the club since the age of seven and has been part of the first-team set-up for more than a year now - a breakthrough season beckons after agreeing fresh terms.
